California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) program is part of a statewide initiative that supports and encourages undergraduates from underrepresented minorities to complete the B.S. degree in a science, engineering, or math discipline. CAMP programs motivate participants through cooperative learning, internships, faculty mentored research, and travel to professional conferences.

California Teach is a new systemwide program designed to increase the pool of highly qualified K-12 teachers of mathematics and science. The program provides opportunities for undergraduate science, math, and engineering majors to explore K-12 teaching as a career through paid supervised internships in K-12 classrooms, rigorous academic preparation in their major, and simultaneous study of educational theory, research, and practice. Students who complete all aspects of the program will be prepared for paid teaching positions as "university interns" upon graduation.

Minority Access to Research Careers and Minority Biomedical Research Support (MARC/MBRS) programs give targeted minority students an opportunity to gain experience in laboratory research and have close exposure to the world of academic science.

University of California's new Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees (UC LEADS) program goal is to educate California's future leaders by preparing promising students for advanced education in science, mathematics and engineering. The program is designed to identify upper-division undergraduate students with the potential to succeed in these disciplines, but who have experienced situations or conditions that have adversely impacted their advancement their field of study.
